After 24 hours, we are still searching for Miss Kelly who was a student at the University of Connecticut in 1962.
We are learning there were other women who had also expressed an interest in NASA's space program; Linda Halpern received a letter of rejection from
O.B. Lloyd, Jr. too.
Can you imagine how that must of felt to have your hopes and dreams squashed at such an early age? We think Miss Kelly was maybe 20 when she wrote that letter.
Today, woman make up 30% of the STEM careers and 10% of the Astronauts who have flown to space. Where would we be if woman hadn't stepped forward so long ago.?
